Fruits (and veggies) of our labor!

Here are some of the veggies we harvested from our garden today.

I am most pleased with the potatoes; I dug underneath the plants with my hands and pulled out a few potatoes, leaving the plant in place to hopefully continue producing more spuds.

Unfortunately, the carrots and parsnips were not as successful as I would have liked. I put this down to neglect by the gardener... wait, that's me! Oh well, I will try harder next time.

The tomatoes continue to give and give. As Pamela says, they are like candy :)

GWB actually made some sense!

Yes, I know it is hard to believe, but during his olympics interview
on NBC he said some (not many) things that made some sense.

Of course, we have set the bar so low for this tool that when he
manages to string together a coherant sentance, we go 'wow'!!!

Not long now :)

SF's new parking policy

Apparently, you can now park in front of fire hydrants in San
francisco! Please try this and let me know how you get on. Please use
this photo to justify your parking decisions.

Disclaimer: your parking fines will not
Be paid by the author!!

Check out my view!

Recently, I have been concerned about the fact that I rarely see daylight from my cube; not anymore!

Now, all I have to do is look up to see the wonderful SF skyline.

Yes, I know this is a small thing, but it's still a VICTORY, right?

What's for dinner (part 2)?

Simple answer... Salmon!

This was taken two years ago when my brother came to visit from
Ireland. We went salmon fishing out of Sausalito. We ended up going
about 15 miles outside the golden gate.

We had our quota (2 fish per rod) by mid morning. The big one is
about 40 lbs. Needless to say we were eating salmon for months
afterwards :-)

What an amazing day!

What's for dinner?

Simple answer... Dirt!

What is up with this dog? He loves eating dirt. I've done it myself
in the past (accidentally) and I can't say I'm a big fan. Dogs, I ask ya!!

El Camino Compressor woes!

Does anyone know anything about auto a/c, coz I sure as hell don't!!!

Picture of the week

Here is a picture of the happy couple, Snoopy & Ginger. This was taken at Piedmont cemetery in Oakland. It was a really hot day and the dogs were cooling down the only way the know how... tongues!

I just love the expression on Ginger's face and Snoopy just looks as proud as punch :)

Pamela and I had a fun walk around the cemetery with the dogs. It is a beautiful place, with wonderful views of Oakland and San Francisco. Piedmont Cemetery was once the burial place of all the old San Francisco aristocracy. It is interesting to see all the famous SF names. It was designed by the same person who designed Central Park in New York; Frederick Law Olmstead

Well worth a visit.

Product endorsement

Wow! I never thought I would be endorsing a product but I used the new Gillette Fusion this morning and I have to say that this new razor represents a quantum leap forward in shaving technology!

We used to think that 2 was better than 1 and the 3 was better than 2, I can now confirm that 5 is better than 1, 2, or 3! Whatever happened the 4 blade model? I am a sucker for new razor marketing but I have to say that this time around I don't feel used. I feel like I am getting the better end of this deal. The only question is how will I feel when they come out with a 7 blade razor. Check back for future endorsements of the new Gillette 'Terminator' 7 blade Ultra Mega-Man razor (available in pink for ladies).

As seen in a cat's diary:

Day 383 of my captivity... My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from clawing the furniture and urinating on the bath mat.

Tomorrow I may eat another house plant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded - must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair - must try this on their bed, or swallow enough thread from my captors mending basket to produce a trailing piece of fecal matter.

I decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of the horror that I am capable of, and to try to strike fear in their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan... Later, there was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was due to my powers of inducing "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. My proof is that the dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant, as he speaks
with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due
to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured.

But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...
